My 80 year old uncle & I went to the Devon Bird of Prey Centre outside Ipplepen (what a lovely name). Have attached a photo. It was a long-eared owl which I think was about 18-20 inches tall. It was wonderful to have them land on our arms & study the feather markings close up. We went in a cage too to meet an agoraphobic vulture. Aw, love it. It's so nervy that when it sneezed it jumped sideways in surprise. We had a brilliant time & I was amazed that I took to the birds as I did. They were wonderful & if the place was nearer Paignton I'd volunteer with them. (I rely on public transport)
My aunt & daughter spent the 3 hours apart from us wandering around the adjacent award winning Fermoys garden centre & drinking tea. We all had lunch there & I'd highly recommend it.
